No river taxis this time

We headed north Friday and I got my first view of the Caribbean sea. There weren’t any surprise water taxi rides and long hikes on our agenda, but we still had a good and productive day.

We interviewed four families today and heard some pretty emotional stories. We traveled to a city named Colon which was a sea port. We had a fantastic seafood lunch. I ordered jumbo shrimp that were marinated in lemon and pepper.

Saturday is going to be a long day. We are heading south west along the Pacific coastline. Our next interview is over three hours from Panama City. We will go over the canal and drive along some of Panama’s beautiful beaches. We were up at 4:30 a.m. for a 5 a.m. departure. We hope to return somewhere around 6 or 7 p.m. tonight.

We will be interviewing a family that has suffered tremendously from Osteogenesis Imperfecta. There are 12 people who have the genetic disease. Unfortunately, they do not all live together, but we will be able to document several of the cases and talk to many different people.
